Anthropic Interview Experience (Software Engineer Role)

Paying it forward for all the times I've looked up a company's interview experience on blind...Process was this:

1. CodeSignal Screening
2. Phone Screen - LC Easy, done in Google Colab, multi-step problem. Email tells you exactly what you need to prepare for.
3. Manager Sell - 30 minute call with a hiring manager, they'll talk about the team and work.
4. On-Site - 4-5 interviews composed of 2-3 coding, 1 design, 1 behavioral. Coding are just like phone screen -- LC Easy-Medium, multi-step problems. Design is standard FAANG design. Behavorial is less structured than you might expect (not so much "Tell me about a time when...") and you can tell stories about non-work related things (they're assessing personality, mindset, etc).

The process and prep needed felt easier than for other places I've interviewed in the past, with less emphasis on hard core DS/A knowledge needed and more emphasis on robust problem solving. Definitely brush up on your Python and basic systems knowledge.

Time to phone screen took a while. Manager sell within 2 weeks, on-site within 2 weeks after that, final rejection a couple of days after. Despite the slow start, it was a good experience overall -- recruiters and interviewers were great/friendly.

I didn't get an offer after the on-site, despite what seemed like a strong interview. I did get the "this was a tough decision" messaging in the rejection and was told in the manager sell interview that the team I was interviewing for had limited headcount remaining. So that may be why (YMMV). Final messaging in the rejection email was frustratingly vague (can't tell if robot or human).

Disappointing outcome, but onwards!

I have just started my interview process with Anthropic, and will be giving the codesignal round shortly. Would love to know how your experience with it was, and what they asked you? I am bit confused about how I should be preparing for the same as it did not sound like a standard Leetcode style question.
