How Mature Is AI Adoption at Applied Materials?

I’m currently in the final stages of interviewing for a role at Applied Materials and am trying to get a better sense of the engineering culture. One thing I’m particularly curious about is AI adoption in day-to-day engineering work. At many tech companies today, engineers are increasingly using tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, internal LLMs, AI-assisted documentation, coding assistants, debugging tools, knowledge search, and other AI-powered productivity tools.

How is it at Applied Materials? Do engineering teams have access to any company-approved AI tools or internally developed AI assistants? Are these tools actually part of the daily workflow, or is AI adoption still fairly limited? I’d love to hear from current or recent employees about their experience. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I’m asking because I’m coming from a company where AI tools and agents have become part of our day-to-day workflow. We use them extensively to automate repetitive tasks, documentation, debugging, and other routine work, which lets us spend more time on meaningful engineering problems, innovation, and higher-value contributions. I was just curious to understand how things are at Applied Materials.

Working as a Director at Applied Materials. I can say there is a significant push to accelerate AI adoption through all of the business. We have a significant amount of approved AI tools internally. If you can mention it, we have engineering teams using most of the industry standard tools.

CEO and president shipped products illegally to china. Instead of going to jail they paid a 252 million fine and fired 1500 people to recover the fine. They let go people who had special needs kids. Some of the let go employees committed suicide.

@KLA you can look it up. Reuters Article

There are layoffs planned at the end of this year. There is also hire fire culture in applied. Beware of joining. Since most of the teams are using GEN AI, there will be more layoffs planned in near future. All the best.
